How to connect Printful to Shopify

5 min readBy the ScrapeOra teamUpdated 28 October 2026

To connect Printful to Shopify, save a Printful token in ScrapeOra, connect your Shopify store, import your print-on-demand products, and publish them with your pricing applied. Because Printful makes items on demand, you do not track stock counts, and ScrapeOra can place and track your orders.

This guide takes about ten minutes and needs no code.

What you need

  • A ScrapeOra account. The free plan is enough to set this up.
  • A Printful account with products.
  • A Printful private token with the products and orders scopes.
  • A Shopify store with an app that has product access.

1. Create a Printful token

In Printful, go to Developers, then Your tokens, and create a token with the products and orders scopes. In ScrapeOra, open your saved keys and paste it in. The token is encrypted on arrival and never shown again.

2. Connect your Shopify store

Open Add store and choose Shopify. Paste your app's Client ID and secret from the Shopify Dev Dashboard, or an older app's Admin API access token. The app must be installed on the store you are connecting.

3. Import your Printful products

Import your Printful catalog. Each product comes in with its mockups, its size and colour variants and their SKUs. Printful produces on demand, so variants are kept available rather than tracked to a stock count.

4. Set your pricing and publish

Apply a pricing rule so your retail price is set from the Printful base cost automatically, then publish to Shopify. You can rewrite the title and description in your brand voice first if you want.

Your markup turns the Printful base cost into your retail price.

5. Keep it in sync and fulfil orders

Put the import on a schedule so new designs and base-cost changes flow through to Shopify. Turn on automatic ordering so each paid Shopify order is sent to Printful to produce and ship, with tracking written back to Shopify.

Common problems and fixes

Printful returns 401
Create a new token with the products and orders scopes and paste the new one into your saved keys.
A product published without the right variants
Open the product in ScrapeOra and confirm its variants imported from Printful before publishing. Variants you add by hand are kept on re-import.
Shopify rejects the credentials
Confirm the app is installed on this store and that the Client ID and secret, or the shpat_ access token, belong to that same app.

Frequently asked questions

Do I track stock for Printful products?
No. Printful makes items on demand, so ScrapeOra keeps variants available and syncs base-cost and catalogue changes instead of counting stock.
Can ScrapeOra send orders to Printful?
Yes. Automatic ordering is live for Printful, opt-in per store, and only sends an order you have already been paid for. Confirming an order charges your Printful billing method.
Can I run Printful and Printify together?
Yes. Both connect through their official APIs, so you can run them side by side and publish to the same store.
