How to sync tracking numbers to your store automatically

5 min readBy the ScrapeOra teamUpdated 28 October 2026

To sync tracking numbers automatically, turn on automatic ordering for a supplier that supports it, and ScrapeOra writes the tracking number back to your store as each parcel ships. It works with Shopify and WooCommerce, so your customers are kept informed without you entering numbers by hand.

This guide shows how tracking write-back works and how to switch it on.

What you need

  • A ScrapeOra account with a store connected (Shopify or WooCommerce).
  • A supplier that supports ordering: CJdropshipping, Printful or Printify, with AliExpress in Beta.

1. Connect the supplier and store

Save the supplier's API key and connect your Shopify or WooCommerce store. Tracking write-back needs an official-API supplier, since the carrier status comes from the supplier's own system.

2. Turn on automatic ordering

In the store's settings, turn on automatic ordering (it is opt-in per store and off by default). Only a store order you have already been paid for is ever sent to the supplier.

3. Tracking is written back as parcels ship

As each parcel ships, ScrapeOra writes the tracking number back to Shopify as a fulfillment, or to WooCommerce as an order note and status. Your customer is emailed when your store's setting allows it.

Order and sync activity is logged, so you can see what shipped.

4. Handle delays

A failed write-back is shown on the order with a fix and retried. If a supplier order has no tracking after a week, you get a delay alert so you can follow up.

Common problems and fixes

Tracking is not appearing
Automatic ordering must be on for that store, and the supplier must be one that supports ordering (CJdropshipping, Printful or Printify; AliExpress in Beta).
The customer was not emailed
Customer emails follow your store's own notification settings in Shopify or WooCommerce.
I prefer to order by hand
Leave automatic ordering off and use the manual ordering checklist; you can still add tracking in your store yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Which stores support tracking write-back?
Shopify (as a fulfillment) and WooCommerce (as an order note and status).
Where does the tracking come from?
From the supplier's API, so it needs an official-API supplier with ordering enabled.
Is anything sent without payment?
No. Only a store order you have already been paid for is ever sent to a supplier.
